A complete redesign of the Animal Welfare League of Wayne County website — migrating from Wix to a custom static HTML/CSS/JS build paired with SurrealCMS for easy, no-code content management. The result: a faster, fully owned site that's easy to keep current without relying on a developer for every change.
The new site preserves your existing page structure while introducing a Tribute & Memorial Gift flow, a Google Calendar-powered events system, a toggleable Spay/Neuter Program with live status display, and a blog/news section — all wrapped in a polished, mobile-first design.

Full listing synced to Google Calendar — styled event cards plus embedded calendar view. AWL manages events in Google Calendar once; site updates automatically. Optional "Featured Events" calendar controls homepage preview.
Donate
Zeffy embed (existing account), giving levels, how donations are used. Post-donation Zeffy confirmation message includes link to the tribute submission page.
Tribute Submission
Utility page — not in main navigation. Reached via link in Zeffy donation confirmation. Web3Forms collects pet name, tribute message, and optional photo. Submissions emailed to AWL for review before appearing on the memorial wall.
Memorial Wall
Public display of approved tributes. AWL staff add entries via SurrealCMS repeatable regions, or Grayson adds them monthly under a support plan. Displays pet name, message, and photo per entry.

The tribute experience is a natural extension of the donation process — not a standalone feature. Here's how it works end to end:

The submission page stays out of main navigation — it's a utility page reached only via the Zeffy confirmation link. The memorial wall uses SurrealCMS repeatable regions so entries can be added, edited, or removed without touching code.
Spay/Neuter Program Toggle
A simple on/off toggle in SurrealCMS controls the program page. When open, the Web3Forms registration is live. When closed, it's replaced with a status message. The homepage indicator updates automatically — no developer needed.
Google Calendar Events Integration
AWL keeps one public Google Calendar. The site reads it automatically and surfaces upcoming events on both the Events page and the homepage preview. Add or update events in Google Calendar — the site stays current with no website login required. An optional "Featured Events" calendar gives control over what appears on the homepage.
Domain & Hosting
Grayson will assist with transferring AWL's domain from Bluehost to Cloudflare Registrar at no charge. Cloudflare offers domains at wholesale cost with no markup — no renewal premium. Hosting on SiteGround is covered at no cost for year one. Beginning year two: $100/year.

Self-managed: AWL posts to Hashnode directly; content pulls into the site automatically via Hashnode's public API
Managed: Grayson publishes on AWL's behalf under a monthly support plan — AWL provides notes or drafts, Grayson handles formatting and posting
